I run fortnightly classes on the first and third Monday and Thursday of each month.
Sometimes it’s hard to come up with new ideas for classes but Stampin’ Up! make it so simple with all the beautiful stamp sets they have on offer in their catalogues. Not only do they give us an annual catalogue they also give up a Spring/Summer catalogue and an Autumn/Winter catalogue then in between times there are also offers and promotions like Sale-a-bration. These catalogues can be found on my online Stampin’ Up! website if you click here.
This class, being the first one in January, I decided to make a desk top calendar, Stampin’ Up! provided a lovely printable calendar template.
Class attendees went back to basics with this class, it was pure stamping. The difficult part was deciding what beautiful stamp sets they would choose for each month! Some of the designs that they came up with were beautiful and there was no two calendars the same. This was there own personal project and each calendar brought out their own personality.
The attendees picked stamp sets from the annual catalogue, the new Spring/Summer catalogue and as we have now started the Sale-a-bration season there is the odd set from this promotional offering too.
The calendar needed a little holder of sorts to keep it all together and also to allow it to ‘stand up’. We made a customised holder which had a little try for the month pages to sit into.
The ladies in the class also got to use differing colouring techniques in this class. They could colour using Stampin’ Write Markers, using ink pads with Blender Pens, using watercolour pencils, aqua painters and of course Stampin’ Up!’s latest colouring product Stampin’ Blends.
The colour schemes in the calendars were very personal to each person, some decided to make it as bright and colourful as they could, others kept to a strict colour scheme and only selected a few colours to run throughout.
Some calendar months featured stamp sets that had coordinating punches or framelit dies. This gave the images a little more depth and lifted them off the paper a little.
Everyone went home with their own personalised desk calendar and very happy!
